Nanoplastia Before and After: What to Expect
Before and after photos are always taken on the best day. What they don’t show is how your hair changes over the following months. Your hair on day one won’t look the way it does in week three, and knowing that ahead of time saves a lot of unnecessary worry. Here’s the real timeline.

Day one: straight, maybe too straight
Right after treatment, hair tends to look very flat and very straight. Some people panic here and think it looks unnatural. That’s normal. You can’t wash it yet, so it hasn’t had a chance to relax.
For the first 72 hours, leave it alone. No washing, no ponytails, no clips, no tucking it behind your ears. Any bend now can set in.
After the first wash: the real result appears
This is usually when people fall in love with it. After the first wash with sulfate-free shampoo, hair loosens up, gets its movement back and feels soft. Over the next couple of weeks it settles into the smooth, natural-looking finish you actually wanted.
So if you’re doing it for an event, time it a few weeks ahead. Our bridal timeline explains why.
The good months, then a gentle fade
For roughly the first three months, hair stays smooth, shiny and easy to manage. After that, you’ll slowly notice a bit more wave and some frizz returning, usually starting near the roots where new hair has grown.
The nice thing is there’s no sharp line between treated and untreated hair, unlike rebonding. It simply fades back gradually. Most people redo it somewhere between month 3 and month 6.
What affects your results
- Your hair type. Wavy hair gets straighter results than tight curls.
- Your hair history. Coloured hair should be treated with the W One + W Two Plex Combo.
- How well it’s applied. Thin sections and proper ironing make a big difference.
- Aftercare. Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner is the biggest factor in how long results last.

Frequently asked questions
What does hair look like right after nanoplastia?
Usually very straight and a little flat. This is normal. Hair relaxes into a softer, more natural finish after the first wash and over the following two weeks.
When do nanoplastia results look best?
Typically from about two weeks after treatment through the first three months, once hair has settled after the first few washes.
Why does my hair look flat after nanoplastia?
Freshly treated hair has not been washed yet, so it looks flatter than the final result. It loosens up after the first wash with sulfate-free shampoo.
Does nanoplastia leave a regrowth line?
No. It fades gradually, so there is no sharp line between treated hair and new growth.
When should I redo nanoplastia?
Most people redo it between 3 and 6 months, when frizz and wave start returning. Leave at least 3 months between treatments.
